POPP
Z-Rain - Rain gauge

You want to be informed as soon as it starts to rain and your (roof) windows are still open? Or you want to control your garden watering intelligently and also take into account the amount of precipitation? With the POPP Z-Rain this is possible in your Z-Wave Smart Home.

The Z-Rain has a small rocker inside on which the rainwater collects until the weight of the water causes the rocker to tilt. The tipping events are registered and counted by a reed sensor to determine the amount of rainfall. Already after the first tipping process, and thus immediately after the start of the rain shower, the Z-Rain reports the first (cumulative) value to the Z-Wave Smart Home control panel.

The biggest advantage of the Z-Rain: It not only detects that it is raining, but also measures the exact amount of rain. A drizzle is not necessarily the reason for closing windows. So you can determine from which amount of rain you want to be notified or further actions are necessary. During precipitation, the Z-Rain transmits the current measured amount of precipitation, cumulated to m³ per m² to the Z-Wave Smart Home Gateway every 1024 seconds. If no more precipitation is detected, the Z-Rain rain gauge sends the measured precipitation value to the gateway for the last time before the value is reset to zero. To turn off watering when a rain shower begins and vary the amount of watering for the next watering cycle based on the amount of precipitation from the last rain shower.
